Sony has announced that it has sold 20 million units of the PlayStation 5. This announcement also comes with the news that Sony will ramp up production of the console. That means stores will soon have more consoles to sell. And that increases the chance that you can finally buy one.

The PS5 isn’t selling as well as the PS4 yet. That has nothing to do with decreased popularity. In fact, the hype surrounding the new generation of consoles was greater than ever. It simply has to do with availability. The PS4 never faced such sales problems as the PS5 has in years past.

You don’t have to count on store shelves filled with PlayStation 5s in the short term either. The shortage of parts is still an issue in 2022. This will probably also play a role next year.
