Faulty controllers now occupy the courts
No time right now?
Some Playstation 5 owners complain of problems with Sony’s new dual-sense controller. In the US, the Japanese video game giant is now facing a class action lawsuit.
In the social networks, some owners of the Playstation 5 report that the analog stick of the dual-sense controller moves the character in one direction, even if it is not touched. Many Nintendo Switch owners have had similar problems in the past. In the US, the law firm Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith has now filed a class action lawsuit against Sony on behalf of some of the victims.
The filed suit states that the dual-sense controller is defective. “This defect significantly disrupts the game and thus affects the core functionality of the dual-sense controller,” said the plaintiff. Sony is accused of having known about the problem, since some customers had apparently already complained about the previous model, and according to the lawyers, the new controller uses “practically the same analog components”.

Controller problems: Class actions are also pending against Nintendo and Microsoft
Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith had already filed a class action lawsuit against Nintendo in 2019 for problems with the analog sticks on the Switch console. The court referred this claim to an arbitration tribunal, but did not dismiss it in principle. In Europe has also been busy since January 2021 the European Commission with the problems with the Nintendo controllers.
In April 2020, a class action lawsuit was also filed against Microsoft in the USA over problems with the Xbox Elite controller. Here, too, the prosecutors argue that it is a long-known hardware problem. Like Nintendo the Windows group is also pushing to refer the dispute to arbitration.
