The new Fritzbox 5590 Fiber is here. According to the German manufacturer AVM, it is a real glass fiber flagship. In addition to a long range, wireless gigabit internet and fast Wi-Fi 6 are promised. The strong features are clearly noticeable in the price.

Fritzbox 5590 Fiber: AVM presents fiber optic routers

Customers with a fiber optic connection can now order the new Fritzbox 5590 Fiber. All common standards like AON, GPON and XGS PON are supported, the router should work with “all” providers such as Deutsche Telekom or German fiber optics. According to AVM, the all-in-one device also has lower power consumption.

Distributed over the connections, the Fritzbox 5590 Fiber can achieve a speed of up to 10 gigabits per second deliver. In addition to a 2.5 gigabit LAN port, four gigabit LAN ports are available. Wireless is based on the modern Wi-Fi 6 standard. Data rates of up to 2,400 Mbit/s can be expected at 5 GHz, and a maximum of 1,200 Mbit/s in the 2.4 GHz band (source: AVM).

An external memory or printer can be connected to the router via two USB 3.0 ports. One complete telephone system with answering machine and a DECT base for up to six telephones and smart home applications are also part of the game. Firewall, parental control, VPN, WLAN guest access and regular software updates complete the package.

Compared to the previous model, the Fritzbox 5530 Fiber with a maximum of 3 Gbit/s, there has been a significant jump in price. According to AVM, the new Fritzbox should also be made available directly via internet providers.
