Fail: Really Nobody Wants Ubisoft’s NFTs

You can safely call it a fail. Ubisoft thought it could earn extra with NFTs from Ghost Recon Breakpoint, among others. But apparently no one is waiting for it.

In addition to DLC, game studios have come up with something new to earn money from a game. Namely by means of a Non-fungible token (NFT). By offering an NFT of a game, fans should be triggered to want to buy it. Unfortunately, in practice this does not run smoothly. At least for Ubisoft’s launched NFTs.

Ubisoft NFTs

The company launched its own platform for NFTs with Quartz NFT. There, fans can purchase the tokens of their favorite games. Ghost Recon Breakpoint was one of the first games available on Quartz. However, sales are embarrassingly bad. However, only 15 NFTs of the game have been sold, Eurogamer noted. They probably had that in mind at Ubisoft itself. After the publication of that article, there have been a few more, but sales are not going well for the time being.

The NFT technology uses the blockchain and therefore everything can be viewed via, for example, Rarible. So it is also publicly visible how poorly the tokens are sold. 2021 was the year of the emergence of the NFT. From clothing brands to game companies to football clubs. Tokens are popping up everywhere in all shapes and sizes.
