‘New iPad mini 7 coming early 2024’ (just a little patience)

iPad mini 7 will be released in early 2024
It has been a while since the iPad mini 6 appeared. In 2021, the small version of the iPad received a major upgrade: the iPad mini was equipped with the A15 Bionic chip and the home button disappeared. The small iPad also has a USB-C connection, so that the tablet can be taken along for the time being.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now predicted in a series of tweets that Apple is working on a new generation iPad mini. According to Kuo, we can expect the iPad mini 7 in early 2024 and will reportedly get a new processor. We put the rumors together for you.
New small iPad won’t get major update
According to Kuo, we should not expect major changes with the new iPad mini, because it mainly concerns technical updates. The iPad mini 7 gets a new processor, which will be the biggest change. The sixth generation iPad mini is already powerful, but the iPad mini 7 is even more powerful and faster.
The design of the iPad mini was completely overhauled in 2021, so it is not likely that much will change in 2024. The iPad mini 6 has an 8.3-inch display and that will most likely remain the same with the iPad mini 7. The seventh generation iPad mini may get Face ID, because the iPad mini 6 only has Touch ID.
iPad mini gets new screen
Kuo predicts that the iPad mini 7 screen will get an upgrade. The dimensions remain unchanged, but the iPad mini is equipped with ProMotion technology. This is Apple’s marketing term for a 120Hz refresh rate. The technology ensures that images look twice as smooth as on the regular 60Hz screens, which we know from the iPad mini 6.

Whether this will actually happen remains to be seen, because then the iPad would have to get a completely different (and more expensive) screen. The iPad mini 6 has an LCD screen, which is not compatible with high refresh rates. It is therefore impossible to release an iPad mini (in its current form) with a ProMotion screen. Apple has to use a completely different, much more expensive screen technology for this – such as OLED, mini-LED or a more expensive LCD screen.
Ross Young, a display expert, previously called it unlikely that the iPad mini 7 will support ProMotion technology. He did confirm that Apple is working on a new generation iPad mini.
