Facebook Messenger is testing a feature to refund your friends who have advanced money

Facebook Messenger announcement testing a new feature that makes it easy to share an invoice (such as a restaurant bill) and then make a payment.

Easy reimbursement for your loved ones

A user of a group conversation on Facebook Messenger can thus indicate an amount and then indicate how much each person must pay. In the example, we can see that a person claimed 2,400 dollars. Four other contacts present in the discussion must therefore pay $ 600 each to reimburse the person who advanced the money.

To use this functionality, you must select the “Start” button in a group discussion or on the payments area in Messenger. From there, you can split an invoice evenly or change the contribution amount for each person in the group chat, including yourself or not. You will also have the option to enter a personalized message. Finally, you will be asked to confirm your Facebook Pay details, after which your request will be sent and viewable in the group’s discussion thread.

Facebook says its system is “free and fast”, and will help anyone who needs to repay. The idea is to use a single payment solution (Facebook Pay in this case), instead of having a PayPal payment on one side, a transfer on the other, etc.

Testing of this feature will begin next week in the United States. Facebook does not yet say when other countries will be able to take advantage of it.
