WhatsApp is working on a new feature that should make it possible to send short video messages to each other. According to the latest rumors, the messages are similar to sending voice messages, but with video. The short video messages then appear in a round bubble in the chat.

The new feature is especially useful if you want to quickly show something to the person you’re chatting with. WhatsApp hasn’t officially announced video messaging yet, but the new feature was found in a test version of the app. WABetaInfo tested the new feature in the beta of the chat service and shared the first images. This is what the new feature looks like.
This is how sending short video messages works
Sending short video messages on WhatsApp works the same as sending a voice message. To record the video you have to hold down a button and then you have a limited time to record the video. The video message can be a maximum of 60 seconds. Then the video will appear in a circle in the conversation.
It is not possible to save the short video messages via WhatsApp on your iPhone or to forward the message. Taking a screenshot of the video message is allowed. It is not yet clear whether the sender will receive a notification of this and whether it is possible to make a screen recording of the video. According to WABetaInfo the video automatically starts playing in the chat.
More new features are coming to WhatsApp
It remains to be seen when WhatsApp will release the new short video messages for the general public. The fact that the function has now been incorporated into a test version means that the company is working hard behind the scenes. It is therefore expected that it will not be long before we can use the function.
