Elon Musk: Twitter is boring, let users say outrageous things!

Twitter is too boring, Elon Musk will do something about it if he owns it.

We know Elon Musk as someone who likes to give his opinion. That suits him, but sometimes things go wrong. Musk told Twitter employees this week: make it less boring, more like TikTok. He said this last Thursday that his focus would be on profit, cutting out “boring” content and allowing users to say “outrageous” things.

Musk on Twitter

The CEO of Tesla, among others, spoke to Twitter employees on Thursday to answer their questions about his projected purchase of the company for $44 billion. While the world’s richest man offered some insight into his management style, he didn’t seem to offer employees much comfort or hope for the future. He merely gave an outline of the direction the company would take.

Washington Post reporters who listened to Musk’s hour-long talk wrote that when asked about his priorities for the company. He said it would be gains: Twitter’s revenues are currently higher than costs, and employees should make the company more productive.

Purchase and focus

So when the best man becomes the owner, he will change a lot. However, he added that he was not 100% sure he would become CEO if the deal goes through.

His focus would also be on making sure people don’t see “boring” content, citing TikTok for an example of an effective platform. One of the shortcomings he sees with Twitter is that more content creators prefer sites like YouTube, and other sites monetize content more than Twitter. “We have to allow people to say what they want”. That promises something if he really takes over the platform.
