Editing sent messages in WhatsApp: maybe later

The popular chat service WhatsApp is working on a new feature. It may soon be possible to edit messages that you have already sent in WhatsApp. iPhoned tells you more about it.

Read on after the ad.

WhatsApp: edit sent messages

It has probably happened to you: have you just written a message in WhatsApp and clicked send, you find out that the automatic text correction on your iPhone has gone off again and your message is full of strange words. What now? There is no option to edit your message. Well, not yet…

Don’t delete messages, edit them

In the current version of WhatsApp it is possible to delete sent messages, but that is only possible for yourself. The recipient will still see the message, even if you’ve already deleted it.

Wouldn’t it therefore be nice if you had an option in WhatsApp to edit your sent messages (full of errors)? According to the website WABetaInfo (a website that takes a closer look at WhatsApp test versions) this feature may be coming.

In the screenshots you now see an ‘Edit’ button to edit the sent messages in WhatsApp. You will probably see this menu when you briefly press a message with your finger. Here you will also find the option to delete a message in the current version of WhatsApp. The feature is currently under development and is therefore not yet available for WhatsApp beta testers.

New features WhatsApp

WhatsApp is known as a relatively simple messaging app, but it has been catching up recently. The messaging service is adding more and more features to the immensely popular chat service.

Recently it is also possible to respond to messages with an emoji. Hopefully there will soon be an option in WhatsApp to edit your sent messages.

Beware of WhatsApp Hacks

However, it is always important to be careful. A new hack for WhatsApp pops up regularly. Crooks then try to steal your WhatsApp data and then lighten your friends and family several hundred euros. So protect your WhatsApp data with two-step verification! Below you can read how to do that.
