Dyson does the housework while you lie on the couch
Dyson gives us a glimpse into the future, where the household is done by robots while you just chill on the couch.
The International Conference on Robotics and Automation is currently taking place in Philadelphia. This is where the Dyson brand is on the lookout for the future of robotics in our household.
Where we mainly know Dyson from vacuum cleaners and fans, the smart minds of the brand already look much further. Of course they already offer robot vacuum cleaners, but the brand wants more. The ambition is high and the development of an autonomous domestic robot helper is in full swing. The brand will present the latest developments of Dyson robots in a film during the conference.
We see robot hands pick up objects such as stuffed animals and plates and an IKEA chair is handled by a robot so that you can sit without crumbs. Dyson is really going next level and developing a lot of technology that really goes a step further than a robot vacuum cleaner.
Research & development
The R&D department of Dyson robots is working overtime. A budget of 3.2 billion euros is available to invest in new technologies, products and facilities. No less than 706 million euros of this will be invested in 2022 alone.
For all these developments Dyson needs a lot of bright minds. The British-born company is on track to create the largest and most advanced robotics center in the UK. They will bring the technology developed there into your living room this decade.
They have already recruited about 2,000 people, including engineers, scientists and programmers. They are looking for even more, because only 700 smart men and women need to be added in the next five years.
These new recruits will work at Hullavington Airfield, where a number of hangars have been transformed in top secret into R&D centers, in laboratories near London and at the headquarters in Singapore.
We hope they find the necessary brains soon! Because who wouldn’t want to binge series on the couch while the robots ensure that all that annoying household work is done. So wait a few more years. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the robot vacuum cleaner.
