The final version of iOS 15 will only appear this fall, but before that, the update will be extensively tested. First with developer betas and from now on also with a public variant. Anyone with a supporting iPhone can install it. That works like this:

Here’s how to install the iOS 15 public beta:

  1. Visit Apple’s beta website on your iPhone or iPad;
  2. Tap ‘Sign up’ and log in with your Apple ID;
  3. Tap on ‘Enroll your iOS device’ under the heading ‘Get started’;
  4. On the new page choose ‘Download Profile’;
  5. Follow the steps in the settings screen.

Then a special profile will be installed on your iPhone. Once this is set up, you can install the beta as you always do with an update: open the Settings app, choose General and then Software Update. You will now see the beta version. This is also where you can install all future betas.

Don’t forget to make a backup!

Please note, however, that this is a test version. That means you can run into some annoying bugs. Take into account a shorter battery life, crashes or apps that don’t work as well. So never forget to back up your iPhone or iPad so that your data is safe if something goes wrong. In the video below we show you step by step how to do this.
