Dozens of iPhones stolen after the robbery of a Bouygues Telecom store
Two people robbed a Bouygues Telecom store in the 17th arrondissement of Paris and stole around thirty iPhones in total. The loot is estimated at 30,000 euros. The police officers of the first judicial police district (DPJ) were responsible for the investigations and findings on the spot.
On Wednesday, the two robbers arrived on a scooter around 10:40 a.m. and broke into the Bouygues Telecom store, keeping their helmets on to conceal their faces. “They exhibited a handgun – a revolver – and seized about 30 new phones, all iPhones”a source confirmed to News17. The two accomplices left on their two-wheelers in the direction of Porte Maillot. No shots were fired and there were no injuries to report.
In itself, stolen iPhones will become bricks. Indeed, Bouygues Telecom has only to share with Apple the list of IMEI numbers (which are specific to each phone) and the manufacturer can block them remotely. There will also be a blockage at the level of all operators. The robbers will eventually be able to resell components, but that will stop there.
The Bouygues Telecom store that experienced the robbery is located at 72 avenue des Ternes in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. It turns out that a nearby SFR store experienced a similar situation last month. The robbers had stolen iPhone 14s and then left. Two suspects were arrested shortly after at their home. For information, the SFR store experienced two robberies in the space of a month.
