Twitter on your iPhone: this is how you download a video

Do you ever see a nice video on Twitter and are you disappointed that the clip can’t be downloaded on your iPhone? You can, because Twitter does not have an option to save a video by default. However, there is a trick that allows this via the official Twitter app.

Download video from Twitter on your iPhone

  1. Tap the ‘Share Tweet’ icon (bottom right) below the tweet and tap ‘Copy Link’;
  2. Open Safari and go to the website www.twittervideodownloader.com;
  3. Tap in the text box and ‘Paste’ the link;
  4. Tap ‘Download’ and hold your finger on ‘Download video’;
  5. Choose the option ‘Download linked file’;
  6. Tap the arrow in the address bar of Safari and choose ‘Downloads’;
  7. Open the video, tap the share icon at the bottom left and choose ‘Save video’.

During step 5, sometimes you have to be fast, otherwise the video will open and you won’t be able to click ‘Download Linked File’. Then close the video and try again.

If you don’t have iOS 15 yet, tap the downloads button in safari in step 6, this is the button with the arrow pointing down. The button is located to the right of the address bar. In the list you can see all the videos that you have downloaded from Twitter.
