Double debit from the account – what to do?

Anyone who is a customer of the DKB may notice today that their account is unusually empty. If you take a closer look, you can see that bookings were sometimes made twice. What happened here?

First the all-clear: Your account has not been hacked and you have not forgotten any payments. The double debits are just an error at the DKB. A corresponding message is displayed after logging in to online banking.

Double debit at DKB is a mistake

Numerous affected customers of the DKB are already reporting online. The exact reason for the debits is not yet known. For some users, the double bookings even increase in the course of the morning. However, DKB support is already aware of the problem and is working to fix it. If you notice a double debit, you have to you nothing more do. According to a spokesman for the DKB the incorrect bookings are automatically canceled and the money is properly booked back.

A too much debited amount should therefore be credited to the account again shortly. Only DKB customers are affected. There are no known problems at other financial institutions such as Sparkasse, Postbank, Commerzbank or Deutsche Bank.

According to some reports, charges are showing up with incorrect amounts or payments that should never have taken place. As some users reportit’s not just a display bug.

If you open the online banking at the DKB, you will now see the following message:

“Duplicate bookings: Incorrect bookings may currently be displayed in your checking account.”

It is unclear whether all DKB customers are affected or just a certain group. Across Germany, over 5 million users have an account with the DKB.
