Does Uber charge the route based on battery percentage?
Do you sometimes use transport connections provided by services such as Uber? And have you ever felt that the price for transport on the same route sometimes has quite a different value? Yes, it’s really happening. And one of the customers came up with an interesting suspicion that the price is related to the value of the mobile phone’s battery charge. Concerns stem from the fact that the transport service could strategically cash in on more money from people who are calling for an emergency with a low battery and are willing to pay extra.
I wanted to backed this up yesterday but I couldn’t find the screenshots until this morning. You can see my battery is at 18% and the ride (which is normally $25-$30) is hiked up to $81. I saw it change instantly. The price dipped once I charged my phone to 25%. https://t.co/cy2S5YyTAr pic.twitter.com/ZaKpB7JZi0

Sarah, whose tweet you see above, claims that with eighteen percent of the capacity, she should have paid over $ 80 for the trip, and this connection would normally cost $ 25-30. If then the phone charged to 25%, the price fell again radically. However, she did not provide a screenshot or other evidence for the second prize. Some other customers share her suspicions, while others have not even been able to repeat and verify the situation.
Uber’s official position, which first addressed these theories even in 2016, refutes speculation. It is said that the fees in prices are mainly signed by reservation fees, distances, taxes, surcharges for places such as airports and mainly occupancy of local drivers at the time. An interesting theory probably remains open, but clearer evidence is still lacking.
What do you think? Is there any truth to that?
