Share account information

Research has been conducted into the mutual exchange of account information of video streaming services. This showed that 34% of Dutch streamers are watching the account of someone else. It is mainly the younger generations, gen Z and millennials, who frequently exchange the login details of accounts. Then there is about 23% of the Dutch who do not use streaming services at all. They remain true to the original linear TV viewing. Meanwhile, Netflix is trying the so-called account sharing against it, because it really shouldn’t.

For example, Netflix has already started analyzing user data. It mainly looks at the devices that are used for streaming and the times when streaming is taking place. This allows the streaming service to find out how subscribers use Netflix and whether they might be sharing their account with others. The provider of series and films would like to impose a customer-friendly restriction in order to reduce account sharing. Netflix is missing out on sales, and not just a little bit. In 2019 we already asked if you share your Netflix account with others. Now it’s time for another AW Poll to take stock.
