Secret and special codes for your iPhone
Your iPhone has some hidden features in the Phone app. With this you can, for example, make one-time anonymous calls or view extensive information about the signal strength of your provider. In this overview we have listed a few for you.
Hidden code: check signal strength on your iPhone
The most interesting code is the number to view comprehensive statistics of your phone. Specifically, you can see the strength of your provider’s signal. Of course you can already see this by default in the bars at the top of the screen of your iPhone. However, these bars are not very precise. Your iPhone has a special extensive overview for this, called Field Test Mode. To view this special menu, follow the steps below.
Hidden menu (Field Test Mode) to view the signal strength of your iPhone
- Tap the ‘Phone’ app;
- Tap the ‘Keys’ button;
- Enter the number *3001#12345#* and tap the call button;
Depending on which carrier (and iOS version) you have, the options are different. Scroll through the data and look for the data at RSRP, RSRP0 or RSPR1. Here is a number that is between -50 and -130. A value of -50 means a very strong (and good) signal. A value of -100 and above means you have a poorer connection. This way you can find out exactly where you have the best signal in your home.
Hidden Features and Codes of the Phone app on iPhone
In addition to the hidden signal strength menu, your iPhone has a number of hidden features that you can use. Some of these codes give you additional information. Other codes show you data that you can also find out via the settings of your iPhone. Nevertheless, these functions are sometimes quite useful to know, because you no longer have to search through all the settings.
You use all these codes in the phone app. Open the app and tap ‘Keys’, then enter the following code.
- #31# followed by the number you want to call. This allows you to call the number without a caller ID.
- *#43# shows you which call waiting is active on your iPhone.
- *#06# shows, among other things, the IMEI code of your phone.
