Dell monitor with 40-inch and wide color space coverage
No time right now?
Dell claims a world premiere and announces the first 40-inch monitor with the WUHD resolution 5K2K. It offers 35 percent more screen space than the popular 32-inch screens.
What is particularly remarkable about the new Dell monitor with the type designation U4021QW is the expansive diagonal in connection with the curved display surface in 21: 9 format. In combination with a wide variety of available connection ports and the coverage of 100 percent of the sRGB and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, the result is an interesting, non-reflective monitor for creative professionals.

Considerable size, but otherwise conventional specs
The Dell U4021QW is an LED-backlit IPS LCD monitor with a screen diagonal of 100.85 centimeters, which corresponds to 39.7 inches and allows Dell to speak of a 40-inch display. It offers a resolution of 5,120 (5K) by 2,160 (2K) pixels and is therefore also referred to as the 5K2K monitor for short.
With 140 pixels per inch and a refresh rate of 60 Hertz as well as a maximum brightness of 300 nits, the new Dell does not rise above the competition. The response time of between five and eight milliseconds is also not something Steve Jobs claimed changes everything. The performance can be qualified as solid and also suitable for games. It does not set a benchmark.
The Dell U4021QW, which weighs around 14 kilograms, can be adjusted in height and inclination to suit personal preferences. If you want, you can also mount it on a holder using a VESA pre-drilled hole.
There is no lack of connections
In terms of connections, the U4021QW has everything that the inclined user could need. In addition to a display port 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0s, the monitor comes with a Thunderbolt 3 as USB-C, which can also be used as a 90 watt power delivery port.
A USB-C downstream port can be used as a 15 watt charger. Four USB type A and one type B port complete the USB equipment. In addition, the Dell monitor provides an RJ45 port, a 3.5-millimeter jack output and two permanently installed nine-watt speakers.
Price and availability
The Dell Ultrasharp 40 Curved should initially be available in the USA from January 28, 2021. There it will cost around $ 2,100. Dell has not yet commented on prices and availability in Europe.
