Dee van der Zeeuw is done with unsolicited advice from mothers

Dee van der Zeeuw and her boyfriend Lars are enjoying their newborn daughter Elin to the fullest. What the influencer is less happy with is all the well-intentioned advice from mothers in her inbox. “It can make you so insecure.”

“Just open & honest: about those well-intentioned advice,” she begins her message on Instagram Stories. “I get it, 99% of the time they are that well-meaning, but as a mother you are inundated with advice from all sides and it can make you so insecure.”

Mom knows best

Dee, for example, received a lot of comments in the hospital and on Instagram when she bought very small packages and diapers for her daughter, because she thought she would be a small baby. “It was nonsense for a baby of 3200 grams and 51 cm. We have now been on the road for more than 3 weeks and she is still wearing size 44 and diaper size 0. This means that as a mother you often feel it best yourself”, she continues. “And sometimes you don’t know (like this week with those pacifiers) and then you ask for help and then it’s really nice that so many lovely people share their experiences.”

really annoying

If it’s up to Dee, it could be a little less. “Don’t forget that, no matter how well-intentioned your advice is, it can also be really annoying haha!” And according to her, not only influencers are ‘victims’ of these comments. “I’m also sharing this with you because I have countless moms in my DM who run into the same thing, so apparently this is a problem even without a million and a half followers.”

Dee gave birth to daughter Elin Júne Gerbrands on September 11. “Oh guys we are in love,” she captioned a sweet photo with the girl.
