Dark Alliance is released on PC -apkrig after 20 years

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance action RPG / Hack and slash from 2001 is released for the first time on PC, Windows, Linux and Mac. Interplay and Wizards of the Coast have released the game on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. In addition, the three heroes on Steam support the Remote Play function for couch cooperation. The title is sold for 30 euros on Steam, or 630 crowns on Epic.

It is worth remembering that Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance debuted on PS2 in 2001. The following year, the game also arrived on the Xbox and GameCube. In 2004, there was a conversion for Game Boy Advance. Already this May, the improved versions landed on new and older consoles, including the Switch. It supports up to 4K resolution on the most powerful ones. But don’t expect any more updates, this is more of a port than a remaster. The authors also promise a mobile version.

The original game was developed by the now non-existent Snowblind Studios team, which later created the title The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. It was bought in 2009 by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and later merged with Monolith Productions. It is quite funny that years ago the publisher believed that the game could also succeed on a PC and entrusted the port to the Polish studio CD Projekt. However, the Interplay project was soon canceled again.

For PC gamers, this may be a rather bizarre contribution to the Baldur’s Gate series, but it’s worth remembering that the game garnered relatively high marks and may be an interesting way to recall this chapter of history.
