iOS 17 draft: Apple’s next big update

The Concept Central YouTube channel regularly creates drafts of programs and operating systems that do not yet exist. This time they started with iOS 17, the major successor to the current iOS 16.

1. New lock screen features in iOS 17 draft

With iOS 16, Apple introduced a new lock screen. This iOS 17 concept adds even more features to that. When a new message is waiting for you in an app, you will see a small icon on the lock screen. Handy, because it allows multiple apps to be displayed in one row.

Also nice about the lock screen in this concept: you can now share your self-created lock screens with your friends. It is also a mystery to us that Apple did not immediately put this function in it.

2. Interactive Widgets

The widgets also get a big overhaul in this iOS 17 concept. They look a bit tighter, but also get a new function. For example, the widgets are now interactive. For example, think of a small shopping list that you can check off by tapping the widget.

3. More functions for the Dynamic Island

The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max no longer have a notch, but a Dynamic Island. This oval bar can show all kinds of information and change shape.

In this iOS 17 concept, the Dynamic Island gets even more functions. This is how Siri has found her (or his) place in the bar. You can also drag images to the Dynamic Island to place them on the clipboard.

4. Best Feature in iOS 17 Draft? Lock apps

Another function shown in the video is the locking of apps. In this way you can, among other things, lock your WhatsApp, Photos or Settings. They cannot simply be opened with this.

Of course, some apps already have a built-in way to ask for your PIN or Face ID. But even with that feature, an overarching way to lock an app is certainly a welcome addition.
