The Chinese manufacturer Huawei is working on a very special mobile phone that will make foldable smartphones look old. The device, known as the “Huawei Mate X Rollable”, should be able to be pulled out like an accordion and thus be converted from a smartphone to a tablet in no time at all.

Huawei: New Mate X can be rolled out

It has long been known that several smartphone manufacturers are involved roll-out devices work. In addition to the LG Rollable, which never saw the light of day, Samsung would also like to develop such a mobile phone with a retractable display. Of course, Huawei should not be missing.

The new patent contains many details on how the roll-out technology is supposed to work. The focus is on the Avoidance of possible display wrinkles. Huawei wants to work with two strategically placed magnets that are attached above and below the roller. The magnets pull the display flat when it rolls out.

Huawei supplies a few specific key figures at the same time. When rolled out, the display should point to a 11 inches diagonal come and act as a tablet. In the normal state, on the other hand, the display is 6.5 inches. The manufacturer also envisions an intermediate stage. POLED, which is lighter and more flexible than OLED, is likely to be used as the display technology.

It is not yet clear whether and when Huawei will attack with such an unusual smartphone-tablet hybrid. Officially, you have not yet signed up to “Mate X Rollable” voiced.
