Comics by Donald Duck can now be read on your smartphone

There aren’t many magazines that both kids and adults subscribe to, but if we have to name the most popular, it has to be the Donald Duck. The cartoon adventures of the residents of Duckburg remain fun. Especially now, because you can now read the Dutch comics on your smartphone.

Before we dive deeper into this great app, there’s a catch. You can only use this app if you have a subscription to the Donald Duck. Now it seems that there are about 180,000 people in the Netherlands and the magazine is of course still widely shared. Donald Duck is also read in Flanders, but the subscriber numbers are unknown. For 9 euros per month you have a subscription to this weekly magazine (and therefore access to the app)

What can the Donald Duck app do?

The Donald Duck app is really only there to read comics and jokes from the land of Scrooge McDuck and co. The cool thing is that you can also read comics, so that the app is already sufficient with more than 1000 stories. You can save your favorite comics and even download them for offline use. The advantage of this app is that it should also be very accessible for children, making the text quite simple and the navigation in the app too. This makes the app very suitable for people who are trying to learn Dutch, for example.

You have access to all kinds of comics in the Donald Duck app and you can read them panel by panel. The images are displayed in very good quality: you can clearly see that this is the official Donald Duck app because the quality is excellent. The colors splash from your screen and because it is a Dutch app, you can also read the comic magazine digitally in Dutch. The fact that they didn’t just upload PDFs but really made sure you can read panel by panel is a huge plus.

From comic book to smartphone

Making the translation from an ordinary book to a smartphone screen or from a comic book to a smartphone screen is quite different. The app makers have clearly understood that. If you still want to read an entire page, you can do that too: you set your personal preferences. You can even create multiple profiles so that everyone in the family or household can use the app however they want.

It is also smart that every day a new joke, puzzle and comic is promised. This keeps you coming back to the app, even if you have already read the weekly. Enough reason to crank up that app every day.
