China blocks access to ChatGPT
There are quite a few differences of opinion between the Communist Party of China and the Western world about, for example, the treatment of the Uyghurs. This probably killed ChatGPT in China.

ChatGPT hit like a bomb not only in the West, but also in China. Large numbers of Chinese people logged into ChatGPT from behind the Great Firewall, the internet barrier that shuts off the Chinese internet from the rest of the world.
The Chinese Communist Party does not like large numbers of people doing something they cannot predict or control. So it wasn’t long before the Chinese government blocked ChatGPT’s site, only allowing you to log in from China via a VPN.
Some technically handy Chinese built a gateway via the local network. This is to allow the many Chinese without a firewall to take a look at the current internet sensation. In this way, they offered Chinese users an opportunity to become acquainted with this advanced artificial intelligence. Unfortunately, the internet door is now also closed for this group.
‘ChatGPT is American propaganda’
Presumably this has to do with the content of the ChatGPT dataset. For example, the chatting AI, which is fed with Western newspaper articles, considers the controversial Chinese activities in the Xinjiang region as genocide against the Uyghurs.
Of course, the leadership of the Communist Party of China disagrees. She sees this as anti-Chinese propaganda. Therefore, articles were published in various Chinese state media, including CGTN, warning of “US state propaganda” via ChatGPT.
Too few good texts available in China due to censorship
China now wants to develop its own competitor for ChatGPT, but observers foresee difficulties due to strict censorship in China. As a result, there are few texts on the Chinese Internet, and using international texts means that Tibet, Taiwan and other sensitive topics will emerge from the Western perspective. In other words, a second ChatGPT. A large amount of data is absolutely essential for good AI of this type.
The local chatbot Plato, meanwhile, has been slammed by many Chinese users who used ChatGPT. Thus Plato asserted by high and by low that 5+3 is 5. Incidentally, ChatGPT is not immune to errors either.
