Change or add admin – that’s how it works
The administrator of the group determines who is allowed to circulate in a WhatsApp group. A group administrator can also give the other participants administration rights so that they can then add or remove people. We’ll show you here on GIGA how you determine other admins in a group chat.

The group function in WhatsApp is a fine thing: It is possible for several people to talk and exchange ideas in a common, private group without great effort. In a WhatsApp group chat you can Any number of chat members admins be. Only those who are admin can invite other people to the group and remove troublemakers. You can also set that only admins can edit the group information or even be the only one in the group to write.
WhatsApp: add group admin
If you have created the WhatsApp group, you can give each member editing rights. You can also withdraw the admin status at any time. However, as a group creator, no one can withdraw your admin rights, even if the member is a group administrator himself.
- Opens the “WhatsApp Messenger “ and choose the “Chats” overview out.
- Opens the Group chatin which you are admin.
- Tap on the top right Menu symbol (⋮) and select the option from the drop-down menu “Group info” out.
- Wipes the Overview of the participantsr down and taps the personyou want to give the admin status.
- Finally select the point “Make group admin” out.
You can also take away someone’s admin rights. Proceed as described above and at point 4 tap on the group admin from whom you want to withdraw the rights. Then choose the point “Remove admin status” out.
By the way: If you have your want to leave their own group, a new group administrator is automatically assigned. So that the right does not pass to an inactive member, you should give someone the admin status before leaving, who will take care of the group chat in the future.
