Carl Pei shares first clues Nothing smartphone

Nothing’s first product, from former OnePlus founder Carl Pei, was wireless earbuds. However, a smartphone is now coming, it becomes clear.

First Nothing smartphone?

Carl Pei is not an unknown name in the tech world. Pei was previously at the helm of OnePlus, but he stopped there in 2020. It then started with its own brand Nothing, managed to take over smartphone manufacturer Essential and came up with the Nothing Ear (1) headset. Now it’s time for the next step.

There have been rumors for some time about the company’s own smartphone. Pei shared the tweet that read “Back on Android.” Google and Qualcomm then responded with a photo that depicts a collaboration. It’s not the only clue. Earlier this month, we saw a tweet asking what your favorite Android-based OS is, and why. An answer from someone was what Carl’s thoughts were. Pei responded that we’ll see that soon.

Given that Qualcomm has responded with its Snapdragon account, it makes it clear that the Nothing smartphone will have a Snapdragon processor. In fact, we don’t know anything about the new model yet. We also have no idea at the moment when the smartphone will be announced.
