Interests of children
In recent days, there has been a lot of criticism because of the forced school closure. For example, Unicef and 59 other organizations made an appeal to the cabinet on Thursday to reopen schools immediately after the Christmas holidays. “Minors are made responsible for the health of adults, but the interests of children themselves are forgotten,” the organizations said.

Freddy Weima, chairman of the PO Council (umbrella organization for primary schools), calls closing schools any longer harmful to children. “The effects of the first and second lockdown are still continuing.” For this reason, dozens of primary schools in Amsterdam do not want to wait for the outcome of the cabinet and will open on January 10, whatever is decided.
