Buying a trampoline for your child? You have to pay attention to this
Choosing a trampoline sounds easy. However, you have to take a lot of things into account if you want to make jumping as fun and safe as possible.

The size
You want a trampoline in the garden: nice! Which brings us to the very first decision: how big should it be? A trampoline is not cheap and that is why it is nice if it lasts for a long time. A small one might be nice now, but a year later nobody cares anymore. Sin. Of course, the size also depends on the size of the garden. Keep in mind that a large trampoline takes up quite a lot of space. But in general, the bigger the better. Take into account at least one and a half meters of free space around the trampoline. Do you use a safety net? Then half a meter is sufficient.
The form
Speaking of the size: a round trampoline often takes up a bit more space. But the offer is much larger. A rectangular one is more fun if your child has some experience, but requires a little more balance due to the uneven tension in the springs. This allows you to jump higher. Do you want to combine all the advantages? Then choose an oval copy.
On or in the ground
On to the next choice: do you opt for a trampoline on legs or do you place it in the ground? Both options have advantages and disadvantages:
To the ground
- Easy to dismantle or move
- Jumps better, because the air can escape more easily
- Must stand firmly (e.g. with anchoring)
- More visible
- More risk of falling due to the high step
In the ground
- Less in sight
- You can easily step on it
- Burying takes time and must be done neatly
- Not easy to move

Trampoline type
Online you are inundated with different types of trampolines. Here are the differences.
Construction trampoline
It stands on legs and can therefore be easily built up and moved. To make the step a little safer, a ladder is useful.
In-ground trampoline
For this trampoline you have to dig a hole of at least 40 centimeters deep. That takes time and is quite definitive. Advantage: you do not always look at such a playground equipment. The edge of inground trampolines is still slightly above the ground, so that enough air can escape.
Ground level trampoline
Nowadays there are also ground level trampolines, which lie flat on the ground. However, the hole in the ground should be a little deeper.
Safety
Safety comes first, especially with trampolines. The last thing you want is a kid flying over the edge. A safety net is therefore strongly recommended, especially with trampolines above the ground.
Quality
You can recognize a good trampoline by:
The steel thickness of the frame
The thicker the steel thickness, the higher the quality. Also note that the frame has a rust-resistant layer.
Enough padding in the protective edge
Good to know: a protective edge made of closed-cell foam absorbs less moisture.
the feathers
If you want to jump nicely, choose double-conical springs. These are a bit thicker in the middle than at the ends.
The jumping mat
The cloth is attached to the springs with triangle eyes. The more stitching used, the safer the fabric.
