Bullet Train (Netflix action movie) – Playful action on the shinkansen

The lightning-fast Japanese high-speed train Shinkansen, or Bullet Train, is the background to a blood-curdling hunt by five assassins for, yes, what exactly? The film, starring Brad Pitt as the failed assassin Ladybug, is extremely popular on Netflix. Justifiably?

The plot of Bullet Train, in short

The story begins as five assassins board the Bullet Train. Disillusioned contract killer Brad Pitt, as Ladybug, who wants to live a peaceful life, takes on one last assignment. On board the fastest train in the world that only stops very occasionally. He shouldn’t have done that, because he becomes part of a blood-curdling denouement. But there is also a lot to laugh about, thanks to the successful combination of tension and humor in the film.

Is Bullet Train a good movie?

In general, books made into movies are not as good as the book itself. But compared to other films, as films in their own right, they often do well. That’s because the writer of the book has already thought about the content of the screenplay and the screenwriter and director only have to limit themselves to summarizing books in cinematic images. Not every screenwriter can dive into the depths like a novelist.

This rule seems to apply only to a limited extent with Bullet Train. On the one hand, the exciting scenes in the film alternate quickly and the film does not get boring for a moment. More critical film connoisseurs, on the other hand, are less pleased with the release of the storyline in the course of the film, but that is made up for by the fluid succession of action scenes and compelling characters.

About three-quarters of film lovers think it is a fine, but not exceptional film. This is mainly due to Brad Pitt, who drags the film through the occasionally somewhat frayed plot with his good acting.

To watch or not to watch?

Do you like laughter and action, and some absurd humor from time to time? Then you will not get bored while watching this movie. Are you more serious and intellectual, and do you like real detectives with a logical plot? Then you better go for one of the other Netflix series.

The humor and character development in the film will appeal to both women and men.

So no Oscar material, or a film for your annual cinema outing, but a good film to relax with after a long working day alone or together. This again shows the value of the Netflix concept.
