Buienradar app has 2 new functions: you can do this with it

Buienradar has added a few frequently requested features to its app. First of all, there are now legends with which you can derive the amount of precipitation and the app will also warn again in the event of severe storms. We show how it works.

Rainfall Radar Legends

If you have doubts about whether that dark sky above your head will also translate into a rain shower, Buienradar can provide the answer. Only an improvement in the latest update ensures that you get even more insight when rainfall is preached in the app.

“New to the app: Legends. They’ve been requested a lot, now they’re finally here. Click the ‘?” icon in any radar or map to open the legend,” Buienradar announced on the Google Play Store.

In the app you will indeed see a ‘?’ icon on the right of the map that indicates the amount of rainwater, expressed in millimeters per hour. One millimeter of rain always corresponds to one liter of water on an area of one square meter. Buienradar has been using colors to clarify the differences in the amount of rainwater for some time, but now you can also clearly see what it means based on the legend.

Weather Alerts

A second important novelty in the latest update are the weather warnings that are back. In the app you can now see when code yellow, orange or code red is expected. The color codes have to do with the wind force expressed in Beaufort (Bft). When the wind reaches 8 Bft, the color code is orange, and you will see this in the Today tab of Buienradar, or the home screen of the app.
