A new cool update is ready for chat app Telegram. The application has been extended by the developers with several cool functions that make it even better to use. This means you get even more options, such as comments, spoilers and more.

Telegram 8.4

Users of chat app Telegram are presented with a new update, so at the last minute to the new year, there is Telegram 8.4. Thanks to the new update, users get a lot of useful functions that can be used from now on. We list the new functions that Telegram has added below.

Comments

From now on you can leave comments on a chat message. This is a feature that is now also being developed by WhatsApp. Telegram has already added this one. By double tapping on a message you can send a thumbs up, essentially giving a like. You can also leave a different comment by tapping a message once. By default, the feature is on for 1-on-1 chats, and group admins can also enable it for groups or channels. Admins can also enable or disable certain emojis. The other person can see your reaction. We’ve already enabled the comments for the DroidApp channel!

Spoilers

Another new feature is ‘Spoilers’. You can make part of a text in your message vague, for example if you share a spoiler of a series or movie you are watching. The other person can see the spoiler if he or she taps on the faded text.

Translate

Telegram 8.4 also adds the ability to translate texts directly. Ideal for, for example, channels that you follow, but that are not in your language. You must first activate this feature yourself, which you can do via Settings > Language. By tapping on a message in a chat, you will be presented with the ‘Translate’ option, after which the text can be run through the translator.

QR code

Also new is the presence of a new QR code. You can share this with, for example, your username, so that others can find you quickly. The QR codes are also available for groups, channels and bots that are publicly available.

Interactive emoji

In Telegram 8.4, users will now also be able to see interactive emojis of several new emoticons such as the snowflake, fire and surprised emoji. Several other emoticons were previously made interactive, whereby an animation is shown after sending.
