Bonus card on your lock screen: this is how you do it

Do you regularly shop at Albert Heijn? Then it is useful to put the bonus card on the lock screen of your iPhone! That’s how you set it up!

Bonus card on your lockscreen

Since iOS 16 it is possible to place widgets on your lock screen, but so far only a handful of third-party developers actually use it. Spotify has recently been added to this small list.

We had hoped that Albert Heijn would soon come up with a bonus card widget that you could put on your lockscreen. Unfortunately, that is still not the case. That’s why we went looking for an alternative way to provide your lockscreen with a bonus card. The way we found may not deserve a beauty prize, but it is certainly effective.

Edit background photo

Albert Heijn does have a widget for your home screen, but not for your lock screen. You can use the widget on your home screen in this case by taking a screenshot of it and cropping it until you’re left with the bonus card.

Then find the background photo you want to use for your lock screen. With a photo editing app such as Photoshop, you can now paste the bonus card on the background photo. Do this in the middle, so that the widgets on your lock screen don’t end up on your bonus card. Save the background photo with a new name.

Set edited background photo

All you have to do now to get your bonus card on your lockscreen is to replace the background photo. You do this in the following way:

• Long press on your lock screen and tap ‘Customize’;
• Tap on ‘Access screen’ and then on the photos icon at the bottom left;
• Tap on ‘All’ and select the photo you edited;
• At the top right, tap Done.

Alternative for bonus card on your lockscreen

Although this is definitely the fastest way to get your bonus card, not everyone will want to be confronted with their bonus card every time. In that case you can choose to put your bonus card on the widget screen (you will see this screen when you swipe to the right on your lock screen).

Because you then have to swipe across the screen once, it is a bit slower. But at least you don’t have to unlock your iPhone first to start the app. To adjust this widget screen, swipe to the right on your home screen. Tap ‘edit’ at the bottom and add the Albert Heijn bonus card to the list of widgets.

Bonus card in the Wallet app

You can also add the bonus card to your iPhone’s Wallet app. You do this with the Pass4Wallet app. Not only the bonus card, but you can also add your loyalty cards, savings cards, coupons and other cards yourself. Below you can read how it works.
