Blizzard will stop the development of -apkrig remasters after the release of Diablo II

It cannot be said that after the recent announcement of the Diablo II remaster by experts from the Vicarious Visions studio, exclusive satisfaction prevailed among the fans. Of course, it is not possible to thank everyone, but the fears of this place arise mainly due to the memory of a not very successful remaster of Warcraft III, which in the final did not fulfill everything the authors promised and also deprived players of the opportunity to run the original version via Battle.net. Nothing like this should hopefully happen in the case of Diablo II, either given the history of the named developers or the statement that the original version of Diablo II will not disappear anywhere. Nevertheless, we understand that some Blizzard fans would like to finally receive it something new and we have good news for them in this regard! Blizzard said in an interview with CNET magazine that the material for remastering has run out and attention is now finally turned to a completely new project.

We live in a world that is constantly active and games in it require constant care, which, on the other hand, places huge demands on development teams and budgets.

Blizzard Vice President Allen Adham is behind the statement, confirming that after the release of the Diablo II remaster, they no longer have a title that could receive similar care. Of course, this is not a definitive position, but for some time, according to both Adam and Blizzard President J. Allen Brack, it should apply. In the coming period, therefore, we should expect new games from Blizzard, and specifically “new types of games”, whether it means titles set in other genres or relying on other payment models or the economy in general. “We used to release the game, release one or two patches for it, and then move on to the next project again,” Adham recalls, adding that the situation is completely different now. According to him, we live in a world that is constantly active and games in it require constant care, which, on the other hand, places huge demands on development teams and budgets. “Demand [delším] The operation of our successful games is higher, as is the time it takes us to release our new game, ”adds Blizzard Vice President.

He points out, among other things, that although Blizzard is currently planning new games and their plans are reportedly as large as they used to be, it will certainly take several years for Adham’s words to materialize in specific games. The way in which work will be carried out in the near future, ie whether in time together in large offices or from home, where the developers have moved due to a pandemic, should also play a big role in this. “We have people who want to work remotely forever. Others can’t wait to return to the offices. And then there are those who would like some flexibility, “says J. Allen Brack. At the same time, he is not sure at the moment where the whole situation will end, however, Brack cannot simply imagine a full return to the state before the pandemic, according to him.

To a large extent, the future of Blizzard, resp. its operation, was to decide the development of the two currently largest projects – Diablo IV and Overwatch 2. According to recent statements, both games will not be released until next year, which also means that one or both can easily arrive until next year. Blizzard is also known for not releasing release dates in advance, and the need to work from home will most likely force developers to be even more careful. So we will see how the colossus with almost 5,000 employees will deal with it, because it will also set the trend for the entire industry and set new standards.
