Blizzard reportedly canceled the mobile version of World of Warcraft

Activision Blizzard has decided to cancel a mobile version of its game World of Warcraft following a disagreement with the Chinese firm NetEase, with whom the development was assured, according to information from Bloomberg. The mobile version of World of Warcraft would have been in development for three years now.

The project, called Neptune by those working on it, was to be a spin-off of Warcrafttaking place at a time different from World of Warcraft. It is not known whether he would have been directly linked to Warcraft, Warcraft II Where Warcraft III.

In February 2021, Activision Blizzard revealed they were working on several games Warcraft for mobile devices, which was seen as a key reason for Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of the company earlier this year. Now, the extent of the working relationship between Activision Blizzard and NetEase after this cancellation is uncertain.
