Battlefield 2042: Beta – Release & Content

The “EA Play Live” event provides new information about Battlefield 2042, in addition to the portal mode, there is also a release period for the beta of the shooter. In the following we tell you everything you need to know about the Open Beta and the technical test.

Battlefield 2042 beta release

The open beta should start in September 2021, the period has been confirmed on the “EA Play Live” stream. Unfortunately there is no exact date for the beta release yet. However, the shooter should still be released on October 22nd, 2021, so you can expect to go into battle and enter the battlefield around a month before the game’s release.

Important: There are some screenshots circulating on the Internet with the exact date of the Open Beta, but these are fake! The start date of the beta has not yet been set by EA.

However, you can use the Battlefield 5 Open Beta to assess it, it started about two months before the game was released. So it could very well be possible that the test phase for Battlefield 2042 could start early in September.

Registration & platforms of the Open Beta

All interested players should be able to participate in the open beta. However, the past shows that subscribers to the “EA Play” service could possibly start the beta a few days earlier if they pre-order. It is very likely that it will be similar this time, as EA Play members can also play the full game a week before the official release.

The Open Beta should be playable on the platforms PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and on the PC, via Steam, EA Origin and the Epic Games Store.

What content is there in the beta?

Exactly what content will be in the beta is not yet known. The beta phases of previous games in the series were mostly similar in amount of game material, so they could possibly be a guide to the Beta of Battlefield 2042.

With the new trailer from the “EA Play Live” event you can get a first impression of the new Battlefield portal, which is a new mode of the franchise:

In the beta of the predecessor, Battlefield 5, there were two maps to play, and there were two game modes with Conquest and Grand Operations.

In addition, the upcoming technical game test could provide further clues. This is mainly used to find out how the Battlefield systems cope with the high number of players. The technical test offers the following content:

  • Mode: Conquest.
  • One map: Orbital.
  • At least 4 specialists.
  • Vehicles and planes should also be playable.

It is quite conceivable that the beta could offer more content, as the game test focuses on the technical aspects and system of the shooter. Unfortunately, it is currently unclear when the technical test will start. It was supposed to start at the end of July, but has been postponed due to crossplay. However, it is certain that it should take place before the Open Beta.
