Anyone who uses the Sparkasse app to access the account and other online functions of the bank from their cell phone knows the advantages of online banking. However, the savings bank is no longer satisfied with this. The first customers will receive practical functions with which the bank cards can be individually adapted. But that doesn’t apply to everyone.

Sparkasse makes bank cards customizable

The Sparkasse is offering a new function via its app for smartphones. The feature is called “CardControl” and actually combines several functions. You can about that control your bank card via mobile phone and grants permission to use certain functions – or to switch them off.

The functions of your Girocard that can be controlled via the app are as follows:

• Withdraw money from the ATM
• Pay online
• Pay in store
• Pay abroad
• Notifications for all cards

Nevertheless, if the card is gone, you should have it blocked as soon as possible. To be on the safe side, you should even go one step further.

Card Control not available everywhere: Savings Bank customers have to worry

So far, however, the practical feature is available not available to all Sparkasse customers. There is a simple reason for this, which many customers are not aware of: the savings banks in Germany act as largely independent financial institutions. Although they ultimately belong together, there is also a high degree of independence from the local branch to the state savings banks.
