Attila Végh and his preparation for the match during the Fight Night Challenge: Hard training, smart helpers, but also work duties

The Fight Night Challenge is already knocking on the door, and on this special evening, 14 fighters will appear in one match in one event. Well-known fighters and rappers will fight against each other according to the rules of boxing on December 27 from 19:00. The main match of the evening will be the match between Attil Végh and the American Emanuel Newton. After two years, Attila enters the match and on this occasion he revealed what his training looks like, whether he is pursuing other activities in addition to training and what he is most looking forward to personally.

Fight Night Challenge is slowly approaching. What can viewers look forward to the most? Will it be your match with Newton or one of the dueling famous rappers?

Although the main match of the evening is my match with Newton, the program is arranged so that everyone can find their own. People can look forward to the match of Rytmus with Gábor, but there will also be other interesting rappers such as Čistychov, Moloch, Laky, but also fighters such as Pirate or Cverna. In my opinion, all matches will be very interesting and are based on the fact that the spectators will like to watch them – whether they are fans of athletes or performers. I’m sure both camps will be curious if their favorite will win.

Undoubtedly, the pre-match between Gábor and Rytmus will be a big draw. Do you think Rytmus has a chance to win?

I dare not guess, as he has been training regularly for five years. But for Rytmus, this match is a huge challenge just because it goes against a professional athlete. That’s why the name of the event is Fight Night Challenge, because there is the word challenge. On the other hand, if Rhythm loses, it has virtually nothing to lose. He will have a nice match and if he does not come out as a winner, he can still be satisfied. Who can lose is Gábor, who is a professional athlete competing with the rapper, so if he loses, people will say that he lost to the rapper.

The FNC reported a long time ago, the organization was somewhat complicated by the current situation, but fortunately the event takes place, although we will be able to enjoy it through PPV. Was it harder for you to prepare and train or rather organize this event?

The preparation of the torso was complicated precisely because of the coronavirus situation, but because I am a professional athlete and it is my job, it did not affect my training, I went to work as a normal person. During the organization, we had to change the location of the event and move the Fight Night Challenge to Brno. Thousands of spectators can come to watch the matches there, but, of course, we also thought of those who will not be able to come. For all those who want to enjoy FNC from the comfort of home, live broadcast will be available, which you can purchase via PPV (Pay-Per-View). The match is literally waiting for you in a few tens of hours. How was your training?

Although boxing is a completely different sport, my preparation can be compared to how I prepare for MMA matches. It all took about three-and-a-half months, and I had two-phase training from Monday to Friday. And, of course, I had to lose a lot of pounds, around 18 in total, to fit within my weight limit.

You have been the face of the Huawei brand for a long time, we often see you using their devices. Do some of the technological devices help you with training?

Yes, I have been using Huawei products for a long time and I am very satisfied with them. From the phone (I currently use the new Huawei nova 9), with which I shoot videos and take photos not only during training, through a smart scale, to the Huawei Watch GT 3 while running, so that I have an overview of how my heart rate works.

After almost two years, you will stand in the ring again, but this time it will be boxing. Was it difficult to get back into hard training after this time?

Even though I return to the ring after two years, it is not a difficult return for me, as I have been doing martial arts all my life. What is maybe a little different, resp. the harder thing is that I’m going to the boxing match now. And he can’t even compare it to an MMA match. That’s why it’s a motivation and a challenge for me, as the name Fight Night Challenge suggests, to try something I haven’t done before. Boxing is a completely different sport than MMA, it can’t be compared. And since I prefer to stand-up in MMA matches, boxing has made me all the more interesting. Thanks to the FNC, I am glad that I can fulfill such a dream and meet this challenge.

Your day seems to be really busy. In addition to all this, do you manage to devote yourself to something else?

Preparing for a match is, of course, harder, but I take it as my job, where I train my own. Naturally, I also have various other advertising responsibilities or organizational work at the event, and I have to manage to combine all this. Of course, in addition, I always find time for the family I want to spend part of the day with, so I have something to do every day and I’m not bored at all (laughs). But I’m pursuing everything as it should be.

Finally, tell us what you personally look forward to the most in the entire FNC program?

Truth? I’m most looking forward to being able to “cool down” after the weigh-in, because the most important thing for me is to stay healthy until the match. I can say that I have a match won by 50%, if I weigh in, I will rent well and stay healthy. Then I will only benefit from all the preparation I endured in the match. So I’m going to enjoy it and I’m looking forward to practically the whole event. At the same time, I want to thank all my partners and invite all people to see the Fight Night Challenge live or through their screens, to enjoy it together, because together we are the strongest. Thanks again to everyone for their support and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.
