Remove this app if you care about privacy

The well-known Life360 location sharing platform faces charges of selling user private data to third parties. The application has more than 33 million users, so it is not a small fish. Most users are parents who track the position of their children in this way. The message is provided by the Sammobile portal.

Life360 is a well-known application, in the past Samsung offered it for free

It was in the days of the Samsung Galaxy S6 that Samsung forced the Life360 app for free. It is therefore possible that some Samsung owners still use it today. Although the Life360 Terms of Use mention the possible sale of personal data, in reality the application can be a tool through which user data flows to their buyers.

The former employee, who decided to remain anonymous, claims that the company is not even thinking about potential data misuse. This could be done through one of the partners who collect this data. A former X-Mode engineer, one of the customers, mentions that Life360 data is their most valuable asset. This is due to the amount of data and its incredible accuracy.

Another former employee, this time Cuebiq, offered similar testimony. Without data from the mentioned platform, they would not be able to target their campaigns so thoroughly.

Uninstall, log out, or let your data flow

The platform mentions that your data “may be shared with Partners for accident detection, survey, analysis, attribution and customized advertising”. The application allows users to unsubscribe from data collection through privacy settings, but does not alert the user to this option at all.
