iPad 2022 review round-up

Tomorrow (October 26) is the day: then the iPad 2022 (10th generation) will be in stores, or on your doorstep if you have placed a pre-order. Several reviewers have had this ‘budget’ model in their hands for a little over a week now. In this iPad 2022 round-up we list the reviews of The Verge, WIRED and CNET for you.

The Verge: ‘iPad 2022 is in no man’s land’

According to The Verge, this iPad 2022 is stuck between two stools. It’s an excellent tablet, according to the tech website, that does all the things you’d expect from a tablet just fine. They also say, “If this was the only iPad Apple sold, a lot of people would buy it and be perfectly happy with it.”

However, this review is not all rosy. The iPad 2022 has fallen exactly between the iPad Air and the iPad 2021 in terms of specifications and price. The older iPad 2021 is more responsive to everyone’s needs. Especially when you look at the ratio between price and quality.

In addition, this ninth generation iPad has a headphone jack. If you’re looking for a bigger screen and a more modern design, the iPad Air is the right choice again. This costs only 100 euros more than this new iPad. All in all: The Verge thinks it is a great tablet, but thinks that the iPad 2022 will soon become redundant.

CNET: ‘Relocation of camera is an excellent choice’

CNET is a lot more positive about the review. This website is very enthusiastic about the new location of the selfie camera. It is located on the long side. According to CNET’s review, this fulfills a long-cherished wish. A ‘landscape FaceTime camera’ ensures the correct positioning of your eyes when video calling.

On the other hand, this website calls the high price of the iPad 2022 ‘a shame’. Even the acclaimed new design (and cheerful colors) does not make up for the sky-high price.

WIRED: ‘Budget can no longer be called the iPad’

WIRED is actually a bit between CNET and The Verge. This tech website also found the new iPad to be in an odd spot in the range, but mainly talks about its high cost. The WIRED review reports that “it’s hard to justify a $120 price increase over its predecessor. Especially if one of the “upgrades” is the removal of the headphone jack.”

Conclusion iPad 2022 review round-up and prices

In conclusion; our colleagues tend to agree on most things. The colors and the new design are nice, but the iPad 2022 is simply too expensive. In addition, all reviews agree on one thing: it is rather strange that the iPad 2022 does not have support for the Apple Pencil 2.

This iPad 2022 review round-up therefore corresponds to our first findings of this ‘entry-level iPad’. The price is really too high. Do you still want to buy the iPad 2022? Then quickly check our price comparison for the best price!
