He is coming! Apple is rumored to be launching mixed reality glasses next year. These glasses have support for virtual reality and augmented reality.
Read on after the ad.
Mixed reality glasses from Apple
This isn’t the first time rumors of these “mixed reality glasses” from Apple have surfaced. But now it seems that progress is actually taking place, according to the recent newsletter of Mark Gurman. In it, he says that Apple will release its own mixed reality device next year.
Gurman goes on to say that there is a hefty price tag on the glasses. He also discussed the question of whether the glasses will be used for gaming or for other things. He said that “Apple wants to offer a mixed reality experience that can also be used for virtual reality games.”
At the end of the newsletter, Gurman lifts a small corner of the veil, saying that Apple will release real augmented reality glasses in the future. This is also apparently in Tim Cook’s plans for the future, as he said he is eagerly looking forward to a future with augmented reality.
No mixed reality glasses without an iPhone
According to an earlier rumor, Apple’s highly anticipated AR/VR glasses only work if you have an iPhone. This makes the glasses work similar to the Apple Watch, because Apple’s smart watch also needs the iPhone for many things.
Although an iPhone is needed to get the most out of the headset, it is possible that Apple will build in a kind of ‘standalone mode’. This allows you to work with a limited number of functions without an active iPhone connection. That is because the AR/VR glasses are expected to have a CPU and GPU on board.
