Apple Watch Ultra 2 is coming
Last year, Apple launched the Apple Watch Ultra, the most advanced and most expensive Apple Watch ever. Apple is now working on a new generation of the Apple Watch Ultra. It is expected that we will not see the Apple Watch Ultra 2 until next year, because the first generation Apple Watch was launched last year. Nevertheless, a little more is already becoming clear about the new watch, because the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will be a lot lighter than the first generation. And that means good news for your wrist.
New watch is a lot lighter
If we have to believe the latest rumors, the second generation Apple Watch Ultra will be much lighter than the current Ultra. That is also allowed, because the watch is the heaviest Apple Watch ever at 61.3 grams. For comparison: the smallest version of the Apple Watch Series 8 weighs only 42.3 grams.
The Ultra is therefore much heavier than the regular Apple Watch and that can also be felt when you wear the watch. The Apple Watch Ultra is quite a device that you have on your wrist, both in terms of size and weight. As a result, it often takes some getting used to when you start wearing the Watch, but that will change next year. It is also quite possible that the Apple Watch Ultra will become available in a smaller housing.
3D printer makes new Apple Watch Ultra
The usually reliable Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported that the manufacturing process of the Apple Watch Ultra will change. The new generation of the Watch is rumored to be (partially) made with a 3D printer. The fact that the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a lot lighter may have to do with this new production method.

Parts produced with a 3D printer are usually made of plastic. Old metal components are then replaced by the new plastic parts. Plastic, of course, weighs much less than metal, making the weight of the Apple Watch Ultra a lot lighter. This will probably make the watch a lot nicer to wear.
