Apple Watch for Android with a crown

In September 2020, Amazfit brought its Amazfit GTS 2 smart watch, which basically immediately became a huge blockbuster, and some time ago a third generation appeared to us, known as Amazfit GTS 3. The watches of this brand are characterized by the fact that they offer an excellent price-performance ratio. We also recently published a full-fledged review of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro watch. These offer (as the name suggests) some extra features and have a round shape. In today’s review, we’ll take a look at the classic version of Amazfit GTS 3, which is basically the kind of Apple Watch for Android.

Package contents

In the Amazfit GTS 3 package, you will find not only the watch itself but also charging cable, instructions and various other brochures. The box is made of paper and does not evoke any great emotions in you. You would look in vain for a spare strap or charging adapter in the package. However, this is the case with most often more expensive models, so we will not blame the company in any particular way.

Comparison with GTR 3 and GTS 3

The Amazfit GTR 3 and Amazfit GTS 3 watches differ from each other only in a few details, which we have prepared for you in the table. The angular GTS 3 model boasts with a larger and finer display, while the round GTR 3 lasts a full 9 days longer, which can be a crucial argument for someone.

Quality of workmanship and appearance

Amazfit GTS watches have always been a bit of a copy of the Apple Watch, which is not necessarily bad, and even in this case the company did a great job. If you like apple watches in terms of design, you should definitely not miss the GTS series. There is a new choice of three color variants. Tested by us Pink Earth it is intended more for ladies, but there is also a more conservative one Graphite Black a Ivory White. The watch boasts 42mm aluminum body and thanks to the weight 24.4 grams you won’t even know about them in a few tens of minutes. So we don’t have much to complain about here.

She surprised us personally as well strap quality (which you can of course replace), which is made of silicone and we will find a very fine texture on it, thanks to which it will not get stuck in your hands or tear your hair.

The display is great

The right one wow efekt however, it does not occur until the first time you turn on the watch and pair it with your phone. He will look beautiful at you 1.75 ″ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 450 x 390 pixels, which gives us a final fineness of 341 pixels per inch. The display is sharp, responsive and very clear (maximum brightness climbed to 1,000 nits).

It is located on the right side rotating crown (again in Apple Watch style), which also serves as a side button to return to the menu or bring up the main menu. You can move the crown in the system, which is definitely a plus. When reading a longer notification, movement on the display is not completely comfortable, which the crown perfectly and most importantly accurately represents. Haptika by could be better, but there is probably nothing to complain about in this price category.

The new Zepp OS is still relatively closed

Amazfit came up with a new system for the third generation of its GTS 3 and GTR 3 watches Zepp OS, which offers several new features, but is still quite closed. You then communicate with the watch itself via the application Zeppwhich is available on both Android and iOS. The user interface is quite clear and if you have ever had any smart watches, it will be nothing foreign to you.

Click on the crown to get to the menu, after swiping your finger to the right you will see the so-called Shortcuts Cards, which are basically small widgets showing all the necessary information from the weather through the PAI score to the current heart rate level.

If you swipe left on the home screen, they will show up individual widgets (Quick Access Apps) applications. Swipe down to go to the menu, where you can turn on do not disturb mode, adjust the brightness, turn on the flashlight or learn about the current battery status. Scroll up to see the new ones notifications, which unfortunately cannot be manipulated in any way.

As for the applications themselves, Amazfit GTS 3 has a lot of them. They are a matter of course medical applications for measuring heart rate, SpO2 or stress. We continue with the application Workout, where there are several dozen sports modes to choose from including the new eSport mode. Monitored data can be synchronized with Google Fit, Apple Health or maybe a popular application Diet. You will also enjoy the presence of the Amazon Alexa Assistant or Offline Voice Control, which comes directly from Amazon, but is quite limited and you have to give it specific commands to be able to respond to them. Due to the absence of a microphone cannot be called from the watchwhich GTR 3 Pro can do.

Battery life

Amazfit GTS 3 watches boast 250mAh batterieswhich, according to the company, will last up to 12 days on one charge. But how is it in practice? If you want to take full advantage of them, by which we always mean the Always-On Display, constant measurement of heart rate, stress and blood oxygen, sleep monitoring and higher brightness settings, will last you about 4 days on a single charge, which is a very decent value, but not the one declared by the manufacturer.

If you save the watch a little more, it will last you much longer. We managed to watch beat out 100% after about 9 days, which is already a very solid value. If they drain, you will charge them from 0 to 100% a little over an hour.

Resumé

We are slowly approaching the end of this review and you are definitely asking yourself if it is worth buying a watch. If you are choosing purely between GTS 3 and GTR 3, the choice is entirely up to you, as the biggest difference is undoubtedly the design. In terms of comparison with other models, we personally prefer a more open system, so we would pay a few hundred and buy a TicWatch E3, but they offer a worse display, do not have a rotating crown and undoubtedly have worse battery life.

If a more closed system doesn’t matter, the new Amazfit watch will be a great choice for you, your girlfriend or anyone else. The system is very intuitive, you will be impressed by the beautiful display and last but not least it should be mentioned that the watch is really nice.
