Apple TV Plus trials renewed again for free
Apple is extending Apple TV Plus free trial subscriptions. They normally last a year, but now extra time is added.
Read on after the ad.
Apple TV Plus trial subscription has been extended for 6 months
Anyone who purchases an iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV or Mac gets a free one-year Apple TV Plus trial subscription. Users with free plans that would expire between February 2021 and June 2021 will now receive an extension through July. This gives you more time to enjoy the films and series on the TV service for free.
For customers who are still using the first free trial subscription, which started in November 2019, this means another extension. In total, the first Apple TV Plus users now have an additional nine months of free access.
The first Apple TV Plus renewal was announced in October and provided free trial renewals through February. This new extension means that users with a trial subscription now get another six months of free TV Plus on top.
The reason for the free extension is the large number of production delays. So far, only one series that launched the service has had its second season premiere. Other series are still waiting for a second season. Renewing the trial subscriptions could be a way to make up for the lack of new content.
Contribution to paying subscribers
Fortunately, the people who just pay for Apple TV Plus are not skipped. To compensate for this group, they will also receive free admission until July 1, 2021.
Anyone who has paid for an annual subscription in advance will receive 4.99 euros per month in Apple ID credit until that date. You can then use this to rent movies, buy apps or pay for iCloud, for example.
