Prehistoric Planet tells the story of the dinosaurs

After a difficult start, Apple TV Plus is now picking up steam. With Ted Lasso, the streaming service had its first big hit and last week Apple won an Oscar for the film CODA.

Now the company announces its most ambitious project to date: Prehistoric Planet. This five-part nature documentary shows how dinosaurs ruled the earth 66 million years ago. The latest scientific insights and expensive special effects are used for this. The series has been in the works for three years. You can see the first images in the delicious trailer below.

You can compare Prehistoric Planet with nature series such as Planet Earth, although this time the animals come from the computer, of course. Unlike films like Jurassic World, this documentary gives the most realistic picture possible of the life of dinosaurs. For example, you can see how a T-Rex treats its young. It’s basically a new version of the Walking with dinosaurs series, but with much better blockbuster-level effects.

An episode every day from May 23

Apple created Prehistoric Planet in collaboration with BBC wildlife experts and director Jon Favreau (The Lion King). Film composer Hans Zimmer provides the music. Sir David Attenborough will tell the story of the dinosaurs in his iconic voice.

The first episode of Prehistoric Planet will air on Apple TV Plus starting Monday, May 23. The rest of the week, an episode will be added every day. In the last part on Friday we will probably see how a huge meteorite ends the reign of the dinosaurs.
