AirPods update: Here’s what’s new
Time to update your AirPods again. A new update has been released for all AirPods. That means the AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max have a new firmware version.
The new firmware for the AirPods has version code 5B59. The previous version (5B58) appeared in November of 2022. Unfortunately, there are no release notes with this update again, so we don’t know exactly what Apple has changed.
These are often small performance improvements and bug fixes. Apple’s official support document also only states that “bug fixes and other improvements” have been made.
Firmware Update 5B59 for AirPods: Install ASAP
Installing the firmware update is automatic, so you don’t have to do anything. But you never know for sure when exactly you will get the update. You can make sure that you get the new firmware version as soon as possible. You do that in the following way.
First, put the AirPods in the charging case. Then plug the charging cable into the case and plug it into the socket. It is important that your iPhone is connected to the internet and is close to your AirPods.
Check firmware on AirPods
Want to check if your AirPods are already updated with the new firmware update (5B59)? This way you check that:
- Connect the AirPods to your iPhone;
- Open your iPhone’s Settings app;
- Tap the name of your AirPods (under your iCloud name);
- Scroll down;
- Look at the string after ‘Version’.
Buy AirPods
Are you looking for new AirPods? Or do you already have AirPods, but are you ready for an upgrade? Then you first have to decide which one you want to buy. The biggest difference between the earbuds is that AirPods Pro, Pro 2 and AirPods Max have noise canceling. The AirPods 1, AirPods 2, and AirPods 3 do not have this feature.
Are you looking for earplugs with noise canceling? Then we recommend the AirPods Pro 2. Don’t want earplugs, but real headphones? Then you have to be with the AirPods Max.
