New MacBook Air appears at WWDC
Next month, Apple will be organizing the annual WWDC. This is Apple’s own event, announcing a series of new products each year. During this event, Apple also presents new software updates for almost all products, iOS 17 is expected this year.

The most important announcement this year is probably the presentation of the Apple Reality, Apple’s first VR glasses. However, Apple insider Mark Gurman has predicted that we will also get a range of new MacBooks. The MacBook Air 2023 will then be presented and will have a much larger screen than we have seen with this Mac series so far.
MacBook Air is getting a new 15-inch model
The MacBook Air range will be expanded with two models this year: a 13-inch and a 15-inch MacBook. A 15-inch MacBook has been rumored for years, but Apple never launched the larger laptop. That now seems to be finally changing. And that’s good news: you no longer have to switch to the MacBook Pro for a MacBook with a larger screen.
The last MacBook with a 15-inch screen was released five years ago, that was the MacBook Pro 2018. Apple then switched to a 16-inch screen, but the 15-inch format now seems to be returning. Besides the larger screen, not much will change in the design. After all, the MacBook Air 2022 has already received a completely new design.
New MacBooks don’t get an M3 chip
The new MacBooks are reportedly not getting a new M3 chip, but will be re-equipped with the M2 chip. It is not yet clear which variant of the M2 chip this will be exactly. The MacBook Air 2022 already runs on the M2 chip, so it is quite possible that Apple will also give options for the better M2 Pro or the M2 Max chip with the new series of MacBooks. We already see that in the MacBook Pro 2023.

The basic version of the MacBook Air 2023 will probably receive an M2 chip. As a more expensive stepping stone, you can then opt for an M2 Pro or M2 Max chip. Of course, the MacBook Air’s larger 15-inch screen is fine for more demanding work, such as editing videos or editing large Photoshop files. Then such an M2 Pro chip offers real added value.
WWDC begins on June 5
Apple will therefore present the MacBook Air with a larger screen at WWDC in June. The event will take place from June 5 to 9 this year, when Apple will present the latest hardware and new software updates for almost all products.
