Mac Studio and Studio Display
There are several rumors that Apple will show a Mac Studio and a Studio Display during the first event in 2022. What exactly can we expect from these devices? iPhoned dive a little deeper into it!
Mac Studio: a big Mac Mini
In a tweet, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple will showcase a “Mac Studio” at the event. A YouTuber named Luke Miani has already revealed what this new Mac might look like based on rumours.
At first glance, the Mac Studio resembles a large Mac Mini with the well-known square design. There is a big difference and that is the height, because the Mac Studio is a lot thicker to make way for a new thermal design.
The Mac Studio could replace the high-end Mac mini and perhaps become a sort of alternative to the Mac Pro. It probably won’t be as powerful as the Mac Pro, but the Mac Studio is expected to get an M1 Pro and M1 Max chip. There will probably also be a version with an even more powerful M1 Max chip.
Studio Display: 27 inch screen
Rumor has it that in addition to the Mac Studio, there will also be a ‘Studio Display’. The Studio Display is a 27-inch screen with slightly thicker bezels than the Pro Display XDR (Apple’s 32-inch Retina 6K display). According to Mark Gurman, this screen has support for iOS, which would mean that the screen has a built-in Apple silicon chip.
Rumors have surfaced about a screen with an A-chip (Apple silicon). It was always thought that this would be a successor to the Pro Display XDR. It now looks more like this new screen is going to be an affordable variant of the more expensive display. However, a price has not yet been announced.
