Apple is working on 6G. The iPhone maker is looking for employees to get started with the successor to the 5G network. It is estimated that 6G will become available around 2030.

Apple is working on 6G and is looking for staff
The vacancy was discovered by Mark Gurman, who is before Bloomberg News writes. Apple is looking for staff to work on the “next generation of wireless networks”. The company indicates that the new hires will have a “fundamental impact” on the future of Apple products.
The new Apple employees will, among other things, work on 6G modems made by Apple. Smartphone modems ensure that your phone has a signal and can, for example, make calls and use the internet.
The new staff are also expected to actively come out and, for example, share their knowledge about the successor to 5G at (academic) forums and business meetings. Finally, the vacancy indicates which qualifications applicants must have.
With an eye to the future
6G is the successor to 5G, the network that will be increasingly expanding in the Netherlands in the coming years. It is estimated that 6G will not be available until around 2030. The vacancy therefore shows that the company wants to be there early in the development cycle of the new technology.
In the coming years, Apple is trying to become less and less dependent on other parties and is therefore making more and more telephone parts itself, including processors. Modems are currently supplied by manufacturer Qualcomm. The iPhone 12, which appeared at the end of 2020, is equipped with a Qualcomm modem and is the first Apple phone to handle 5G.

The network technology is more stable, faster and has a higher capacity than 4G. 5G will roll out more and more widely in the Netherlands in the coming years. 2022 in particular seems to be an important year.
