Apple will offer a new MacBook this year which will have the particularity of having a 15-inch screen and tests are currently being carried out. According to Mark Gurman of Bloombergthe model is equipped with a chip similar to the M2 found in the existing 13-inch MacBook Air.

Apple has started testing the 15-inch MacBook Air with apps available from the Mac App Store to make sure everything works fine. Precisely, developers have spotted the machine in their logs, which allows to have some information about it.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is announced to have a chip similar to the M2, with 8 cores (4 performance, 4 efficient) and 8 GB of RAM. Will it be the same M2 chip? A variant? No answer for the moment. Regarding the operating system, it is macOS 14, which Apple will present at WWDC on June 5.

The logs also show that the screen resolution will be the same as the 14-inch MacBook Pro. This means the MacBook Air will run with slightly less sharpness than the Pro model.

We can imagine that the 15-inch MacBook Air will be announced in a few weeks, potentially during WWDC. On the other hand, Apple is working on an upgrade for the 13-inch model, the 24-inch iMac, and the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro. The first Mac Pro using an Apple Silicon chip is also in development, but has suffered delays.

Apple plans to refresh 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros in the first half of 2024 with higher-end versions of the M3 chip.
