Apple is better at converting users to iPhone than Google to Android
You need to have good arguments to attract users to your mobile platform, whether iOS or Android. And for once, Apple succeeds better than Google.
Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) leaned over on the subject with a study. Over the past decade, Android smartphone users have increasingly tended to switch to iPhones. For example, people with a specific reason for switching devices cited battery life or connectivity issues.
Looking at the current user bases, iOS and Android show impressive fidelity, as more than 90% of users remain loyal to their respective operating system when switching to a new phone. However, the engagement of iOS users is slightly higher (94%), while that of Android users is 91%.
Then comes the big question: where are the new users coming from? The data indicates that Apple is better able to entice Android users to switch to the other system, while Android struggles to attract users who are already loyal to iOS.
In the last twelve months, around 14% of people who bought an iPhone previously owned an Android smartphone. In contrast, only 4% of Android smartphone buyers previously had an iPhone.
